Brutalist Mind is a violent piece created during an anxious and uncertain time. The painting features many scratches applied with a palette knife as well as sharp lines and decisive strokes. These make the piece feel unapproachable as if twisted into a resentful entity by the layers of pain inflicted upon it, with thick build-ups of paint reminiscent of scaring. The colour palette is cold, dark and uninviting, with red paint suggesting bleeding from the inflicted wounds, making the painting painful. Layers of paint appear to peel off until there is nothing left but misanthropy, bitterness and cynicism.
